The Dellification of Alienware Has Begun!

Gizmodo is covering a new line of Alienware laptops-but unlike almost every single model they have ever made it has stock components like any other Dell laptop. That's right kids-no excellent graphics or sound, just the 950 Intel chipset-40gb hd 512mb of DDR2 RAM-Alienware sales are going to go down the tubes for this. Is this the end of Alienware?
Cheap models with high price tags-go Dell go-way to dump a good name.

Microsoft Beta Attempt at Web Client

Windows Live and in a Coma!

The launch of Windows Live services in the form of a beta release show how behind the game Microsoft really is and how they are struggling to keep it together.

Visit www.live.com

What do you notice?

First of all if you are in Firefox, only simple html is displayed, a clever ploy by Microsoft to force users onto the Internet Explorer browser, they want to keep the user in control by proprietary software, nothing new. However, consumers are smarter these days and Microsoft underestimates the demand for liquidity. The users will want Microsoft's services to work no matter the browser and will simply use the alternative products from google and others.

Secondly, once you open it in IE, half the buttons do not work, It is as if a CO told them they need a presence in this market and to release regardless of its readiness. Creating posts in the different services is difficult and a waste of time for the consumer.

Here is why the MSFT Live products will not build momentum:

1. Browsing Requirements-MSFT has to compete for the first time in decades with diversity. The average computer user today knows 10 fold about technology compared to users in the past. They are not as easily intimidated towards Microsoft products. With the ease of immersion into web applications, OS skills are no longer preventing the masses from using alternatives like Linux and Free BSD. This is also bad news for those in the Mac camp, because the users are more diverse, more intelligent, and more likely to try new things, they will leave the kid gloves, and fisher price approach to computing that the Mac OS offers, demanding more for their money than cool colors and culture.

2. Web Application Diversity- Users find it easier to teach themselves new products and services on the web as they are provided a sea of valuable options from thousands of vendors for free. Whether it is a social network created by a high school drop out or a web desktop site, users go to the most intuitive and liquid solutions

3. Limited Market due to prerequisites-MSFT live services don't work with everything and if users are aware of this, will be driven away. For example, If I want to sell my boat, and I know that 20 million users use Firefox and I am looking at posting on a site only 4 million users on Internet Explorer with the proper MSFT credentials can use, do you think I would waste the time to post a for sale ad on their Live service? No. Users will go where the people are, they want to communicate to the world

4. Got Innovation?
With Vista mimicking OS X, and late launches of products, is Microsoft just a responder and not an innovator? Look at their record recently, all of their services and products have been responses or knock-offs of other inventions. What happened to the innovation? Take these products to new heights and new mediums that users haven't thought of and profits will follow. Otherwise, they are just getting in the way of consumers getting to the innovations. Microsoft has come up with great products and services like My Space. However, have those services, inspired innovations or created more problems and a new thing to veg in front of like the TV.

Conclusion
The Microsoft Live services are no where near completion, they have more bugs than Bill Gates has dollars, they limit the consumer both in option and market size, and they completely ignore their customer needs, Personal Digital Liquidity is paramount. I am an avid MSFT fan, but I don't see them even crossing the finish line in the race for the web 2.0 client desktop arena.

Summary of The Web Based Client Desktop

The Biggest Change Since DOS Went to Windows 3.1

The migration from license to subscription base and offline to on-line application suites will be the greatest change in 06-07. The powerful portable device demand has exponentially increased and will be the second half of the puzzle. Thanks to dynamic programming elements from AJAX, which allows information to be changed, edited, saved and deleted without having to reload the page each time.

The Battle
The New Battle will be over the Internet not the OS on the computer. The battle will be over subscription or use on the web not on the physical computer.

What's Out There:
There are many different web applications out there

desktop solutions:
www.protopage.com
www.pageflakes.com-this is perhaps the greatest example
The only better is one that integrates IM capability like

social networking apps:
blogger
writely
word press
flickr
meetup
linkedin
My Space

office products:
office live
zoho writer
Open Office will release a web version soon

Email products:
gmail
google calendar

There are also subscription based services
iTunes
the new Windows Media Player with MTV services

There are great mobile devices out there:
ipod
UMPC

Microsoft's arsenal
Verizon ties
WMA proprietary format-owns wireless content
MTV content delivery service in windows media player
UMPC www.umpc.com
My Space
Office Live
Microsofts Gdrive competitor-update 4.20
http://www.microsoft-watch.com/article2/0,2180,1951172,00.asp

The Goal: Create an entire online environment that is independent of a platform (OS) in which a user Has a desktop, an office suite, email, and media content delivery system, and many other web applications through one subscription service or a combination of them.
with different elements similar to page flakes
IM access-which can already be done
social networking access

Microsoft's Plan of Attack

Microsoft and Verizon
Using Verizon's 3g broadband wireless service MSFT can deliver the services to all the devices on the nation's largest network including cell phones, PDAs, UMPCs, and their ipod killer (could be a special breed of UMPC).
The services will be web applications that include:
a desktop environment much like page flakes or protopage:

Quick access to web content including:
MSN messenger
Encarta
Money
My Space
MTV Windows Media Player-new content delivery system
Documents and files hosted online
Microsoft Gdrive Competing Solution
Online Applications Including:
Office Live

Evidence of Microsoft's Move

Bill Gates "The Future is the Internet" speech.
He was speaking of this subscription based world of web client applications and environments. This is how Microsoft plans to "know what you're watching" and deliver content based advertising.

Launch of the UMPC and iPod Killer News
Microsoft has revealed the Ultra Mobile PC's better performance than a PDA but more mobile than a laptop and always connected. This will the launch pad for this new environment and application suite. This became apparent when the specifications for some of these devices included "low performance" CPUs from VIA clocked in at 900mhz and yet plenty of RAM. The web application environment will not require too much hardware muscle and Microsoft wanted to give it just enough to control what the UMPC can do as they have done with Windows Mobile and Pocket PC OS. The low power units ensure long battery life and the software requirements will be low in order to accommodate bandwidth limitations of the wireless world and other factors involved. Microsoft has also released news that they are developing an ipod competitor and with their new media player and MTV combo they are clearly aiming at itunes.

The combination with Verizon and MTV Content
The wireless networks are vital to this new move. Microsoft teamed up with the largest wireless network for this reason, so users can access the content everywhere. The MTV and media player coverage on the cell phone ensures that users get hooked on the WMA format and are forced to use the new content delivery system.

The News Of Microsoft Creating A G-Drive Competitor
Microsoft is developing a virtual drive similar to Google's Gdrive. This certainly supports where they are going with this.

Things That We Have Yet to See from Microsoft:
Microsoft's Super Secret Web Desktop Environment
-Don't know exactly what it will look like
-Fully Developed?

Google is Leading The Way
Google has an arsenal in store already and closer to release than Microsoft and will surely be the first to launch their suite as it will cripple Microsoft's effectiveness in the market and be made available for free. Google will use wifi networks that they are establishing to deliver a better broadband delivery system that can overcome the limitations of bandwidth issues on cellphones. They will lead the way because they make their money not on the subscriptions but on the user information and statistics used to create better marketing methods.

Google Bringing together:
Google Mail
Calendar-already out there
web design tool-I have seen beta shots of this product
blogger
google maps
google local
google earth
3d products
office products

Evidence of Google Move

Present Suite of Tools

Size of Gmail
Gmail is growing to 3 Gigabytes and at last we know why. The user account will host all of the data, documents, files, media, etc.

WiFi in SF
Google is really pushing their free wifi projects so they can deliver these services to the masses and users do not have a reason not to use their services.

Rumor of Google OS
The rumors and photos of Google versions of Linux are probably works in progress at creating a minimalist environment that can be delivered over the web. It won't be a traditional operating system alone, it will be hosted on the web.Their purchase of the 3d design software may also hint at a new web application or a 3d environment.

Things We Have Yet to See from Google

-Media delivery system that is fully developed.
Yes they have Google Video, but music subscription service has yet to be revealed but I am sure we will see it soon.
-Office Suite
I've seen screenshots and heard some things from credible sources

Trends to Watch
The massive purchase of social networking sites and applications
This is the glue that brings it all together. These products have changed the way we live and there are many small start-ups bringing it to the next level-

If you would like specific recommendations of potential investment targets you will have to call and arrange a consultation.

5 Reasons why Mac Won't Gain Market Share

Will Windows Users Convert to Vista or Migrate to Mac?
A response to the MacWorld Article
There are many stories being ran about users being untrusting of Microsoft and the next release. This is said to create a migration pattern to Linux. That is a logical result. However the stories about Mac market share doubling are completely out of the realm of reality. These stories are coming from die hard Mac fans and are simply posted to generate hype for the OS. It is wishful thinking on their part.Windows users will not trade in one dictator for another. Most Windows users have already made their choice between the OS's. Mac doesn't measure up and the only migratory candidate is Linux. The Ubuntu release has gained particular momentum in the linux world, as it is easy to use and software is easy to install. The Mac OS isn't even an option for Windows user migration here's why:

1. Ubuntu and other linux releases are more likely candidates and already have gained momentum and have corporate business experience. If there is a switch it will be to a more corporate friendly product in the form of a linux release not a Mac.

2.Most Windows users and corporations on the platform are too hooked to migrate, most corporations do not care of DRM management or PDL Personal Digital Liquidity Issues.

3.The defectors (that the MacWorld article refers) of the Microsoft world are home and small business users that will want a similar product with similar performance, more flexibility, and user freedom, They won't trade a beat-up Toyota Corolla for a Ford Focus-while both are crappy, Mac does not have the presence impress most of the corporate or intelligent home user world. But the users who do defect will go the Honda route and move to Linux.

4. Microsoft's next service release is not going to be platform dependant. Read my other posts about their new plan. Mac is MIA in the war for the web, their strongest tool is not their OS, it is their Ipod. As Bill Gates said " The future is the Internet". The future is the internet subcription land, new web 2.0 services and applications and an entire client platform ran from the web is what is in store from Microsoft. Microsoft has shifted all their weight into the World Wide Web and so far, Apple has a strong presence with itunes but not their entire OS.

5. The other competitive forces and benefactors in this arena are Google and AOL. Google will probably benefit the most as they will release their complete web based client desktop solution and suite of web applications before the Vista Release. I mention AOL because they have the most experience in delivering a custom web solution. They will be a contender if they can host their AOL desktop from the net in its entirety.

Conclusion:
The Defectors of Microsoft will not Migrate to Mac OS, they will go Linux or Google, as they are the most flexible user friendly solutions available. The future is the Internet, and mobility, if the Apple people can get a handheld to compete with the UMPC and Microsofts Ipod Killer, and a more versatile suite of web applications then they may have a fighting chance.

Investors: Watch Apple for their handheld product, smaller yet as versatile as a laptop, bigger than a pda, and as cool and sleek as the ipod. If these products don't appear, look to google, AOL, and Microsoft to lead the market

The Future Beyond Vista

The Big Web War-The Operating System Has Evolved and is on the Web

Disclaimer: This article is aimed to inform-the implications are great, this will represent a complete change in the world of computing which has positive and negative connotations. I try not to take sides, but this is the future as I see it, and to say the least it will be great, ( not good great but great as in epic and influential). This is the first of many essays that will assume the market will go this way. You heard it here first from a 20 year old snot nose IT consultant and college student. Feel free to add in your comments and contribute your evidence to back it up.
Microsoft's Next Move

The Present- A Massive King of the Hill Game for Internet Services.

Google has a lead but has been unaware of what Microsoft has in store. The competitors understand that they are not in a platform war but a web war, Apple's solution in this fray has yet to be presented, more research is needed, although I possibly unfairly kind of treat the company and Mac crowd like society treats a mentally handicapped person (you feel sorry for them, empathize, do what you can and generally kind of ignore them as it pains you to watch). Someone should comment and fill in the future Mac Solution here, a piece of the puzzle that I don't have time (or the fisher-price experience required to operate) to look into the world through the eyes of(a four year old) Mac. Sorry for the roasts, but they live off of Win-bashing-it's their turn.

The Future-
The largest future competitors will be AOL who has a lot of experience of delivering a handicapped version of the Internet and Internet services to the masses, Google who probably reads my email for new ideas-a little arrogant but I wouldn't be surprised. Google has created an entire web experience and will bring it all together to compete with Microsoft.

Investors: Watch the future of AJAX and competitive web programming languages to come. Pay attention to where this new programming method goes- this is where to put your money so that you win no matter who comes out on top. There are far too many players to predict a winner right now but stay in touch.

The Delay of Vista, Working Out the Issues, or Strategic Move?

I believe that Microsoft is going to holding back its next software line up for a massive release. A massive offensive aimed at stomping out the ipod, itunes, Google services, and Apple appeal all together. The next move from Microsoft will be a full scale assault aimed at switching the world over to their new system-a simultaneous launch of iPod killer hardware, UMPC combined with a new content delivery subscription system.

I think most experts would agree with me that the future is in technological liquidity, and the most liquid, go anywhere, do anything on any platform solutions are Web 2.0 applications and portable devices go hand in hand. Ultra Mobile connected devices will not need to waste storage capacity on software solutions. Instead they will rely on web 2.0 applications for all user needs be it office, utility, gaming, audio, video or any other need.

This is how Microsoft will survive their own Vista Release. There will be many users who recognize the limitations in PDL (personal digital liquidity) that Vista offers, the heavy DRM solutions that are aimed to please media manufacturers, and restrict and control user behavior, forcing them to use Microsoft services such as Media Player, their MTV music solution, and the rest of the new line-up from Microsoft. The smart and corporate users who switch to alternative OS will still want and need Microsoft Functionality, and they will get it from the broadband version of a web 2.0 suite from Microsoft that will deliver all their services over the Internet for a subscription fee.

It will matter very little what platform you run. Whether you run XP, Vista, or OS-X on a Mac or PC, as you can do either, thanks to Intel. If you take a look at Microsoft's Hardware build up lately- I'm sure you will see a lot of movement to the web. They are gearing up the back end of this massive service launch. They are stacking up servers and equipment to backup this huge move. The users will no longer have such heavy hardware requirements, which will upset the CPU manufacturers I'm sure.

Microsoft's Master Plan- The Move That Will Start All Out War

Imagine paying $10-$20 or even $50 a month on a all inclusive package, no more licensing nonsense. Imagine paying nothing and tolerating ads like the good ol' days of free ISPs. There is not enough money in licensing software. Software piracy is great, err, I mean, is a great threat to Microsoft and a subscription base for their products is their solution. This mindset is backed up by their validation tools, genuine product detection and authentication. They will integrate their products with the web even more intricately than Adobe's creative product line-up. They are trending this way already.

For example, take a look at Microsoft's One-Care solution and their attempts at entering the anti-virus and malware domain. This is a test market for Microsoft. It is a way to work out the bugs in their content delivery system. Microsoft is big on advertising and has come up with a content based solution and how to deliver it. This will be the response to Google's ad sense campaigns

The Tools
Hardware:

Wireless Devices:

PDA:

UMPCs
Watch the video
http://umpc.com/default.aspx

Microsoft has promised these devices to be an extension of the media center for these devices.
iPod Killer (release with vista I imagine)-
The release of Windows Media Player 11 that was co developed by MTV backs this up.

XP and Vista to get new Video Player
http://news.com.com/2100-1016_3-6061520.html?part=rss&tag=6061520&subj=news

I think this is yet another reason for the Vista delay. Microsoft may create their own UMPC and it will be revealed with vista. It will use Intel based hardware I imagine. The media extension news for UMPC leads me to believe that Microsoft will combine the functionality of the ipod with a laptop they will brand their own so they can better control their new solution.

Cellular Phones
Verizon only at first then it will spread to other carriers. This is how MSN messenger mobile first appeared for those who can remember. MSN is already teamed up with MTV and has a new service with Verizon

Web Ware:
Traveling Desktop
They will acquire or design a site like protopage to deliver a user environment that exists anywhere you can login.
http://www.protopage.com/

There are other sites available that allow you to access RSS feeds, open files, and chat using any IM program.
They will utilize another service perhaps similar to Citrix Go To My PC solution for direct file transfer services and other back end solutions.

On line Office Solutions
Microsoft Has:
http://officelive.microsoft.com/
Google has:
A web calendar product
http://www.google.com/calendar
Several web office products
A web version of a web design product
A 3d design product
www.sketchup.com

Google has bought many companies and web applications in this domain while Microsoft is working the kinks out of on mobilizing Office. Google is ahead of the game here. However another player worth mentioning is Open Office, they are working on a web version of their popular alternative software. My Space, Blogger, Meet up, and other social networking sites have proved themselves worthy of incorporation into these solutions as they have become essential to the digital lifestyle. A new combination of these services will arise so investors keep eyes pealed for potential solutions.

Combining the solutions will create a user interface that can be accessed, from the world wide web- if not hosted exclusively on the web. Logging in will link you up instantly to the new MSN solution, OFFICE Live 2.0, Messenger, My Space, MTV, Video on Demand all on the new dynamic probably AJAX based desktop application. This is what Bill Gates was referring to when he said "The future is the Internet"

The Result?
An entire client solution that exists on the web. Google and Microsoft are paving the way here. The UMPC specs back this up. The Via powered UMPCs are horrible CPU solutions and I had no idea why Microsoft supported this hardware until now. The web 2.0 world will require less resources than the off line, on device hosted versions of software.

Delivery System
Microsoft will seek to mimic Google's WiFi efforts. They will want Internet Availability everywhere so that users will be able to connect anywhere. To do this, Microsoft would need the nation's, and then the world's largest Wireless coverage area. I give you their deal (soon to be merger if Verizon stays on top or buy out) with Verizon Wireless. Verizon will deliver wireless broadband to cell phones, UMPCs, and iPod killer devices across the nation. Microsoft will be able to control and limit the ability and create a subscription based network of these devices through this wireless network. This will further enhance the subscription dependency that Microsoft will push. The deciding factor will be Dependant on the success of the new web desktop solution-the best interface will win the people.

Even More Money For Microsoft-The Google Way
The new release will bring digital liquidity to your doorstep- up to date versions of your files and documents and files available to you anywhere, anytime, all for a subscription fee. MSFT will collect user statistics on all users and the collected data will rival if not overcome that of Google. Using the subscription based web 2.0 solution they can deliver user specific advertising- not just based on content but the profile of the user on a far more personal scale than there exists now. Utilizing user information has been a tactic best left for Google until Now.

I personally prefer the school of thought that prefers a mutt to a pure bred; that is I prefer digital variance of products that come together in a custom solution than an inbred solution that only works half the time, is dumber than a box of rocks, and craps on your feet before you finally put it down. These mutt products do not lack in any area. When you try and keep the old ways with decades of the same product, you end up with problems and solutions that don't work. When you mix up the solutions you get strength and adaptability. Google changes very little in the products they buy, keeping them adaptable and yet integrated while Microsoft focuses too much on keeping things integrated not adaptable.

Currently consumers must use a multitude of web 2.0 applications to achieve this level of liquidity, but Microsoft and Google are bringing them all together into one solution. I think Google will release first, to cut into Microsoft's profit.

They delay Vista not just for bugs, awaiting reinforcements
The attack Pattern

1 If by Web
One thing is certain. New web services will surface which is great for the consumer.
The purchase of social networking sites, dynamic applications, file sharing technology and others will become even more rampant.

Note to Investors and tech heads: Find a good web app start-up, get involved and sell out to one of the big boys it is a great time for it.

The Delays Explained:

My Prediction
Microsoft had to compete with new services they did not foresee. In order to effectively market their new windows release and maximize profit they had to re-evaluate how soon they would launch this new system. They have moved up the release of their subscription based services to come out directly following Vista. They would rather wait until after the initial Vista Frenzy and then release Windows Live, But I imagine they will have to release sooner than that at the rate Google is going. Microsoft will be forced to show their hand in order to entice the public into waiting.

If Google releases a web desktop product that combines all the web based software solutions before Vista is released, this will seriously diminish Microsoft's penetration of the new market at first. If Google accomplishes this they will likely give Microsoft a run for its money. The greatest card Google has is that they will probably not even charge for their solution and it will be a more intuitive interface because it is not based on old design. Google makes its money by the knowledge, user statistics, and marketing strategies gained from the exchanges between Google users and solutions. Google will further make a killing by becoming the middle man between iTunes and Windows Media Player.

Investors:
Look for a great middle man alternative to the subscription madness that can speak with both itunes and media player and throw some money at it before Google buys it. Remember Google and the rest of the big boys don't innovate, they buy innovators, if you beat them to the punch you stand to get an exponentially better return on your investment.

Windows Live-A complete subscription service that will include:

Web Desktop Environment-There are many out there and freely available google em!

Messenger, My Space, and Encarta

Office Live-Microsoft's Online Solution

Wireless Access to Their Network- probably via Verizon Wireless and the new generation of wireless broadband technology ( I hope investors have jumped on that band wagon).
deals with Verizon- obligating users to WMA
Implementation of new broadband wireless network

Windows Media Player
MTV Combo-Their new found partner
Creating a solid competitor for itunes?

UPDATE!-It will be the New Windows Media Player and it is already to go and not compatible with itunes which will create a large faction in the world of technology

Google Solution

Calendar

Email

IM

Office

Design Tools

Current Hinderments for Microsoft

Waiting for the UMPC to mature -The Origami Project
These devices will be here this year.
The media player extension- Microsoft has made comments about this yet hasn't released any details.

The UMPC will be released with the new version of media player and MS Vista

Working out Vista Bugs- last on their list of concerns as forcing users away from vista will enhance Microsoft's profits with their new subscription solution. I did not know why they would so blatantly please manufacturers until now. They will make a killing either way. If users don't use Vista, Microsoft will get them through Subscription.

Big Moves in 2006

Phone Companies Make Moves to Squash Competition

Nicholas McGill 1.24.2006

Over the past year, the large conglomerate phone companies have been coming up with more and more anti competitive strategies to regain profits lost to the information age and Internet Communications. As you may or not know, the phone companies are upgrading all wires from copper to fiber optic. Companies are dropping billions in upgrading their lines.

Why? To extend premium communication services to all of its customers? No! They are attempting to make a move for the VOIP market- to which they are losing an ever increasing amount of money for those smart enough to use its technology. With the new lines in place Ma Bell will be able to filter out VOIP and charge you on your phone bill to enable the service and the subsequent maintenance fees, activation fees, GOVT fees ETC.. CEO's of these companies have very boldly stated that they have to make a profit on consumers using their lines for these services. This cut throat scheme of digitizing all the lines to control what goes through the voice and data channels is aimed at stomping out the competition. Namely, they are aiming to stomp out Vonage, Skype and other VOIP services.

Although this is going to be very clearly an anti-competitive move and thus illegal , the phone companies are going to gamble that the 2-3 years it will probably take in legal pursuits to stop the phone companies from doing this-that the VOIP companies will go out of business-except for the services the phone companies will market (IE SBC VOIP LOOK FOR IT SOON). In other words they will block out the new communication technologies like VOIP until consumers get together and get a class action lawsuit against the companies and good luck going against a billion dollar industry backed by an even more corrupt government. I believe that they won't stop at VOIP and will reach into consumer's pockets further with the digital lines.

Once the lines are all digital they can better manage and record consumer activity and subsequently charge you for being an excessive media user, or rapid downloading fees etc. Policies are already in place with most of the large carriers. Not to mention that the phone companies are lobbying to tier the Internet and deny users fast access to servers and thus stifle traffic but that is another article for another blog!

The savior of this plot they did not account for is the rise of wide range free wireless networks. These next-gen wireless networks will go coast to coast and will circumvent the lines all together. If the phone companies block direct access to super nodes-in other words at the source or main servers of the Internet regardless of whose lines you are using they will be immediately counter sued by hundreds of businesses across the nation. Customers won't stand for it, and appeal to hackers cracking web status, and restraints placed on consumers on the web will begin a renaissance and re-education of the masses to continually adapt and adjust to greedy corporate market moves.

Google as a Security Threat

Google is the Largest Threat to Security

Whether it is in your home or at your work; Google software is a security threat that you should be worried about. Every term you ever search for from Google is tied to a user ID that is specific to you unless you effectively manage your cookies. This has been known and has become standard with search engine monsters. All the Gmail is stored forever read and analyzed for statistical use. However the threat from within is lesser known. Google Desktop- a program to help you index and find your files quickly and effectively saves index of all the files on your computer ties them with your cookie and sends them in to Google HQ. An unauthorized installation of this legitimate software at home or at work make this is the most effective security leak ever. Upon installation, users agree to terms of use and give Google permission to get this information. This makes Google on the biggest and most effective intelligence agencies in the world.

Stomping on privacy rights is no new practice for Google. In the name of greed they gave up user information to Chinese Governments who found these individuals searching for democracy and bypassing its censored search engine. Google was fully aware that giving up this information would likely result in the execution or disappearance of these individuals.

Soon you will see a lawsuit against Google for unlawfully obtaining trade secrets, or private information on the grounds that unauthorized personnel installed the software and Google gained from the information it received. Although uninformed, Google is still guilty. Stealing is stealing and Google does not belong on my client’s desktop. The question becomes why hasn’t Google been flagged as spyware? Why does the government do nothing?

The answers are simple. Google collects this information from millions of people. To get this information, the government would normally have to go through a subpoena process, and other special court procedures to spy on individuals and tap into their systems. However, if one entity has all the information desired on millions of people the government need only 1 subpoena and an excuse like to support a bill that defends children from internet porn access.

An example of how the government making use of these statistics is made most apparent in the film “V for Vendetta” where the government uses live real-time statistics based on surveillance and wire taps far more effective than polls or a census to understand how the people are feeling or thinking at any point in time so they can respond accordingly. Make no mistake the government already reads every email ever sent or received. As for the census, it is getting an upgrade as well, switching to handheld broadband phones to deliver instantaneous information. But the government and the law cannot keep up with the changes in technology as recent problems with tracking VOIP have pointed out, as illustrated everyday by corporate greed and the use of legal loopholes, and hackers protesting all the way and inventing new ways to communicate.

As if the software isn’t bad enough, it also must come pre-packaged with every single Dell computer that is shipped across the country. Millions of people did not even approve the Google-desktop license agreement and you can bet that that will have some legal repercussions soon as well.

The Moral of the story is do not use Google Desktop software, use Copernic Desktop instead. Copernic does not send indexes to the company so there is no security leak Find it @ http://www.copernic.com

The Big Problem: Corporate Oppression

History Lesson in Corporate Greed: How the Cost of Living Went Up and How it Affects Society Today

Society must take time to remember the past, scrutinize the present, and analyze corporate motives that shape are future. Low prices have claimed a hefty toll on society. So let us take a moment to look at what corporations have done for us.

Women Entering The Workforce
If you don't agree-get educated on economics-then come back and we can debate. But Generally, The increase supply in labor, without an increase in demand for labor, resulted in lowered wages and thus doubled the cost of living.

There was a large corporate push to allow women in the workforce way back when-(not that I am against it in any way). However the corporate proponents of the women's movement only did so for purely economic gain. They new the average American had no grasp on modern economics and would not realize the true reason behind the corporate support of the women's labor movement. With women working, it doubled the workforce, which then lowered wages for everyone. This was not the only factor though and I'm sure one could rant about all that was involved. We went from a society where both parents
get to work to both parents have to work. Hooray for all the children left at home and raised by the media!- Oh wait that's me...damn...

Family Structural and Social Dysfunction
Read the news, statistics, study psychology or just take my word for it. With both parents away from the house or completely consumed by their careers, the rest of the family suffers.

There is far more dysfunction and other problems in family life than I have time to write about, but some of them include, growing up in a broken home, being breast fed by the media, teen-sex, teen pregnancy, the prolific amount of abortions-(I am not against them just the overwhelming number of irresponsible individuals that get them and treat it like birth control), ADD ADHD and other phenomenon invented by the pharmaceutical companies to sell more medication, and of course the general lack of responsibility or interest by the masses in community, society politics anywhere-apathy.

No Innovation and an Overworked Middle Class
Coming home exhausted from work only to deal domestic obligations; there is no free time left to think with an active mind. The body is worn out, but more importantly the mind is exhausted as well. There are many recent articles about zombies in America, corporations and political regimes have made policies to create this situation. If society has no active free time to think than we cannot innovate or get an education.

Retailers Thrive On Employee Ignorance

Actively Encouraging Management to Trample on Worker's Rights
Retailer managers are encouraged test their employees knowledge of the labor laws by pushing them to the limit. If the words "labor laws"are mentioned, the employer will back off or try and brush it off and make the employee feel like they are in trouble or they make a point of telling employees how they are so easily replaceable and expendable . This has been my experience as a young adult working at K-Mart for a year straight out of high school. They all of course model after Wal-Mart Which is covered in many different documentaries.

Retailers Try and Weed out intelligent Free Thinkers
If you get bold and boisterous, or simply attempt to inform your fellow employees of the labor laws (that by law have to be posted in the break room anyway) you risk losing your job. Corporations spend millions on discouraging union formation or presence- they will gladly pay very close attention to you and get you fired or pressure you into quitting if you try to start or get a union involved in an otherwise untouched industry.

Retailers Armed With a Throw Away Labor Force
As a rule of thumb, retailers only try and recruit automatons, preferring fresh out of high school. They are worse than the military recruiters. The pay is so low, and the jobs are so bad, that the corporations make more money laying people off before their 90 day probationary period is up and their pay raise kicks in. Here is the math.

All They Want Out of You is 3 Months
After 3 months or just before, you can bet they will give you harder tasks and longer hours. They will purposely and admittingly screw up your work schedule just to see if they can push you hard enough to quit.

pay 250,000 dumb employees minimum wage for 90 days or the
same amount of people 75 cents more an hour
250,000 x $6.75 =$1.6875 Million an Hour
250,000 x $7.50= $1.875 Million an Hour

The difference: $187,500 per hour

This is considered profit and doesn't even take into account the numbers they save in not having to provide you with health benefits; a number that hourly is significantly larger. I guarantee you the money they save does not go into their employee health care programs or lack there of.

Remember this when you Go Back to Work!

Editors Note: I am not a disgruntled former employee, I worked in retail for a year fresh out of high school and I willingly left my job many years ago for a world of hope, opportunity and a decent living wage, I wasn't angry or bitter with my former employer I came to the understanding that there was no opportunity there for any kind of life. For me it was a waste of time just to be there because the ability to think freely about a career alone is worth more per hour than they could pay me. Simply put it cost less to be Homeless, in terms of the potential of my thoughts.

The resources required for this type of education may exceed what the lower middle class has to offer. In order to overcome these barriers, I purpose that you dedicate your lunch hour to getting involved in programs like Lunch Hour Career Moves, Tech Immersion, and Digital Liquidity.
